Motorcycle Jack Buying Guide

If you are like many motorcycle enthusiasts then you enjoy working on your motorcycle almost as you enjoy riding it. Motorcycles inspire the gene that is in all men to want to modify and improve things. So if you’ve been overtaken with the urge to tear into your new motorcycle, don’t worry, you are not alone.

If you do attempt to work on your own motorcycle, then you will quickly learn that there is at least one tool that you simply must have in order to work on your motorcycle safely. That tool is a good quality motorcycle jack. You need this because the jack you use on your truck or car, isn’t going to work on your motorcycle jack and it is important that you do not attempt to use a regular jack.

There are two things that you want to make sure your motorcycle jack comes equipped with, the first is a safety lock that when locked will not allow the motorcycle to fall. This is essential if you intend to leave the motorcycle on the jack unattended for any length of time. The second feature is a tie down that will essentially lock the motorcycle to the jack, not allowing it to tip from either end.

Both of these safety features should be standard in any motorcycle jack so you don’t have to worry much about these being hard to find but I want to stress that you must use them in order to avoid an issue. I wouldn’t even think about working on a motorcycle without the lock and the tie down in place.

If you are concerned about the money you are spending on a motorcycle jack then you need to look at the big picture. The dealerships charge a fortune for even a simple oil change and a good Indy charges a small fortune. You will recover the investment in a motorcycle jack even changing your own oil just one or two times.

The only thing left to figure out is where to buy your motorcycle jack. You may not have many options in your home town but don’t worry, you can find a great deal on a motorcycle jack online. I purchased my jack on Ebay and saved a bit over 50 dollars on it. If you do your research, find a couple of different brands that you would be good with, then go buy on Ebay and you will save yourself a lot of money.

Don’t compromise on your safety.
